OST for Red Stroke

‘Red Stroke’ is a film about redemption and justice. It follows the story of a mathematical man who loses the medicine that his wife needs to survive and the thief who steals it. He must struggle to understand what constitutes real justice and how he should avenge his fallen love.

The film was written and produced while Boyle was living and working in Busan, South Korea. It was made on a shoestring budget and features primarily Korean actors. The screenplay was written in English, then translated and performed in Korean. It is subtitled in English. The score was written and recorded by musician Devin Kirby-Hansen of the popular Quad Cities band The Post Mortems.

Boyle said, “It was certainly a challenge at times to make a film in a foreign country with a foreign cast in a foreign language, but it was an incredible experience that I’ll never forget.”

After a screening of the film in Korea in May, expat filmmaker Jon Hardy said, “Red Stroke was… by far the best expat film from Korea I have seen.” The film won a Gold Eddy in the Pro-Am division at the 2012 Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival.

About the filmmaker: Joseph Boyle has been making films for more than 10 years. He strives to make films that are highly entertaining, but that also encourage the audience to think. He and his wife are currently transitioning from life in South Korea – where they taught English and lived for 2.5 years - back to life in the U.S.A.
